inspired by communes, compounds, cults and modest clothing, this dress started out with
good intentions, but became subversive quite quickly. the sweet pointelle knit, made from
100% unbleached organic cotton is reminiscent of nightgowns and longjohns--comfortable,
warm, soft and safe.
the shape is modestly elegant with slightly batwing, three-quarter length sleeves and a
generously a-line skirt. the dress is adorned with an organic cotton braid at the neckline and
seven lucky pintucks up front. the back tells another story entirely, dipping to a decidedly
seductive low gather. the whole thing is kept snug and flattering with a length of organic
cotton braid, worn as a belt.
side seams are serged for durability. much of the detailing is left raw and loose. this will not
affect the life of your garment, but rather, lends an easy charm that is part of the compound
dress' aesthetic.
this dress is made to order and is currently available as one-size-fits-many. it is organic
cotton pointelle knit and is quite stretchy everywhere except in the sleeve width, as they are
meant to fit somewhat snugly.
